Meet Our Founder & Aaliyah's Mom

Elizabeth O'Donnell

Elizabeth—or Liz, as most know her—is a former public school teacher who turned her grief into purpose after the loss of her first child, Aaliyah. Her fight for paid bereavement leave led to a pivotal change in D.C. policy, ensuring parents who experience stillbirth receive the support they deserve. In the wake of Aaliyah’s passing, Liz received an outpouring of messages from families with similar stories. Known by loved ones as the “spa girl,” she leaned on small acts of self-care to survive those early days—a ritual that became the seed for something greater: honoring her daughter’s legacy by supporting others through unimaginable loss.
